RESTORE YOUR SMILE WITH CROWNS AND BRIDGES
Dental crowns and bridges are used to repair damaged, decayed, or missing teeth. Our experienced dentist, Dr. Zicchino, offers crowns and bridges in Point Pleasant to help you restore your beautiful smile. Here’s how they work!
Dental crowns are caps placed over your teeth to strengthen and protect them. Crowns are used to repair misshapen, cracked, chipped, broken, or decayed teeth. You may need crowns for a variety of reasons, such as tooth loss from periodontal disease or as an alternative to dental fillings if you have a large cavity.
We offer a few different types of dental crowns and will always recommend the option that best fits your specific needs.
BENEFITS OF DENTAL CROWNS
There are many different cosmetic dentistry options when it comes to restoring issues with misshapen and damaged teeth. For example, porcelain veneers can sometimes be used in place of dental crowns to give you a gorgeous smile, however, they’re a more expensive treatment option. So why choose dental crowns?
Some of our favorite benefits of dental crowns include:
- More affordable than other treatment options, such as veneers
- Protects and strengthens damaged teeth
- Replace missing teeth
- Gives you a natural smile
Dental bridges are fake, permanent teeth used to replace one or more missing teeth. Unlike dental crowns, which fix broken and misshapen teeth, bridges are just for missing teeth. They create a “bridge” across existing and missing teeth. That said, dental bridges and crowns do go hand in hand because bridges are usually attached to dental crowns on each side.
Depending on the extent of your missing teeth, we might also recommend dental implants. If your surrounding teeth aren’t healthy enough to support a dental bridge, or if you’re missing three or more teeth in a row, permanent implants to support the bridge may be necessary
BENEFITS OF DENTAL BRIDGES
Missing teeth can drastically affect the look of your smile and your ability to properly bite, chew, and talk. Benefits of getting a dental bridge include:
- Restore your ability to chew, bite, and speak properly
- Give you a beautiful, natural smile
- Keep other teeth healthy and in place
WHAT TO EXPECT WHEN GETTING DENTAL BRIDGES
Getting dental bridges takes about two appointments to our dental office in Point Pleasant. Before adding the bridge, we’ll place crowns on the teeth the bridge is going to be attached to. If you’re getting permanent dental implants instead of crowns to attach the bridge, those will need to be in place first. Preparing your teeth for the bridge is done during the first appointment. Once that’s done, we’ll make an impression for your bridge to be created. We’ll put in a temporary bridge for you to wear until the permanent one comes back.
Once we get your bridge back from the lab, we’ll install the bridge permanently, making sure it’s properly adjusted and sized to fit comfortably in your mouth.
