WHAT KIND OF ALIGNMENT ISSUES DOES INVISALIGN WORK FOR?
Invisalign is a fantastic way to correct many of the same issues as metal braces, including:
- Crowding
- Gaps
- Underbites, overbites, crossbites and more
With that said, however, we may recommend traditional orthodontic treatment for severe cases of misalignment.
HOW LONG DO I HAVE TO WEAR MY ALIGNERS EACH DAY?
To get your results on time and ensure that your treatment goes as smoothly as possible, it’s important to wear your aligners at least 22 hours per day. This allows plenty of time for meals and brushing and flossing. You also have the flexibility to remove your trays for special events such as weddings or job interviews.
HOW DO I CARE FOR MY ALIGNERS?
Maintaining your clear aligners with the following tips will help you get the most out of your treatment:
- Only use specially-made products or clear liquid soap to clean your trays each day. Toothpaste can scratch them.
- Be gentle when handling your aligners to avoid tearing them.
- Brush after each meal or snack. This not only keeps your teeth and gums healthier but also keeps your aligners from becoming stained.
- Only use cold or lukewarm water. Hot water can warp your trays.
- Don’t drink anything but plain water when your trays are in to avoid stains and odors.
- Store your aligners in their protective case during meals (instead of a napkin) to prevent accidentally throwing them away.
WHEN WILL I GET MY FINAL RESULTS FROM INVISALIGN?
It depends on the severity of your alignment issues and how many aligners are needed. But, on average, Invisalign is completed in 12 months, which is significantly faster than traditional braces that take an average of 18 to 24 months.
CAN I GET INVISALIGN IF I’VE ALREADY HAD BRACES?
Absolutely – Invisalign can be a particularly great option for people who have had braces in the past. Oftentimes, traditional orthodontics did the bulk of correcting the bite, so relatively minor movements are all that’s needed.
